THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF
YOUNGSTERS IN EMERGING NATIONS DESPERATE TO PLAY RUGBY BUT WHO
HAVE NO KIT. PLEASE GIVE US YOUR USED/NEW, GOOD QUALITY,
CLEAN, RUGBY KIT SO WE CAN HELP THEM !
DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR UNWANTED
KIT - GIVE IT TO SOS INSTEAD !
AND...IF YOU HAVE STUDENTS
DOING DUKE OF EDINBURGH'S AWARD OR SCHOOL COMMUNITY PROJECTS
THEY CAN NOW RUN SOS AS A COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT - HELPING
THEMSELVES AND EMERGING NATIONS TOO !

"SOS IRB KIt Aid simply collects
good quality, clean, used and new rugby kit from schools/clubs
in the UK and, with the help of the IRB, sends it help develop
junior rugby in emerging rugby nations like Romania, Georgia,
Ukraine etc. This helps to spread the great game worldwide, at
the same time improving their health and quality of life too.
The boys from Georgia in the above picture are wearing shorts
donated by Whitgift School, South Croydon, London and the
shirts were kindly donated by Chetwynd School,
Barrow-in-Furness.
There is so much good quality
rugby kit grown out of every year in UK schools and every year
it is just thrown away. In just three years SOS IRB Kit Aid
has sent (for example) over 12,000 rugby shirts to the seven
countries it currently helps (see SOS website for details). By
the end of 2005 SOS will be helping ten emerging countries and
has another 44 emerging countries on the waiting list for
help. BUT SOS is hardly scratching the surface of all the
surplus, outgrown kit that is available every year and NOBODY
WANTS/MISSES THE KIT WE COLLECT - NOBODY GETS UPSET because it
is surplus to requirements.
All you have to do is arrange to
collect all the surplus kit from students homes and the
school, collect it together once a year and contact SOS via
their website (above) and then we will come and collect it -
it is as simple as that !
PLUS as SOS now
has full Duke of Edinburgh's Award Approval, your students can
apply for a pack (via the website) and run SOS IRB KIT aid as D
of E Community Service Project in order to qualify for their
Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. There are also community
service elements within the CAS section of the International
Baccalaureate, National Curriculum and B-Tech exams or you can
simply run SOS a school community service project.

Your children
get so much out of playing rugby - please help young children
in less fortunate countries achieve the same by joining SOS
and collecting your surplus, outgrown rugby kit once a year
and donating it to SOS. SOS IRB KIT Aid is fully approved and
funded by the International Rugby Board. Dublin and ensures,
by visiting SOS countries regularly, that the kit is used
properly and not wasted.
APPEAL FOR REGIONAL KIT COLLECTORS
We have over 70 across England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland
but we always need more - please volunteer via our website and
keep up to date with our progress !
THE FUTURE
The kit we are sending out is
making a real difference but now we are starting to see UK
schools sending teams out on rugby tours to SOS countries like
Romania. This is providing great rugby but also a
social/cultural experience for children to see how life is
lived in oither countries not far away from their own. Schools
are starting to "twin" up and developing relationships. You
could do too ! There is so much kit surplus to requirements
every year and we hope to continue rolling out SOS support to
more of the 44 emerging rugby nations on our growing waiting
list.

By
joining SOS :-
* Think of the
pleasure you will give youngsters who can now play the great
game for the first time
* Developing the community aspects/experience of your
children and your school - especially if you run the SOS
Community Service Project within D of E etc
* Imagine a much more competitive World Cup with a bigger
variety of countries playing
* Think of rugby being in the Olympics !
Many Thanks
to the 500+ plus UK schools already donating kit - YOU ARE
REALLY MAKING A DIFFERENCE ! COME AND JOIN US !
