Jacob Ford, the younger brother of England international George, is helping to put Ipswich School on the map in a debut season in the SOCS Daily Mail Schools Trophy.

Unbeaten Ipswich will test themselves fully later this month when they take on former champions Wellington and another heavyweight team in Kirkham from Lancashire.

Ford believes his team will show they are on the way to becoming a force in the sport having gone out to compete with the best.

He explained: "We are a little bit of an unknown team in the competition, but our squad has come up together over the last few years.

"We are looking forward to the challenge for a squad who have worked very hard to improve.

"The matches against Wellington and Kirkham will show where we are in terms of development.

"We would have entered the Trophy last season but, obviously, Covid intervened," he added.

Ford combines work at Ipswich alongside being head coach at National League Bury St Edmunds.
