Tunbridge Wells school Skinners are rewarded for a magnificent cup campaign with the Evening Standard's Team of the Month award.
The first XV won all three games last month, including a thrilling victory over Hampton in the national cup. They went on to put in a brave quarter-final display against RGS Newcastle, only giving way in a tough second half.
Great attacking rugby also blew away Ravens Wood and Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical schools in January.
Head of Rugby Nick Oldham praised the teams dedication and workmanlike attitude: Competing at the highest level is well within the reach of our young squad, who are bursting with talent and play extremely well for each other Given that they have 15 squad members returning next year, the future looks very promising.
Whitgift defeated fellow Team of the Month winners St Benedict's, and RGS High Wycombe, to reach the Daily Mail final at Twickenham. Their opponents will be RGS Newcastle, who overwhelmed Stowe.
Skinners receive vouchers from FrontUp, the rugby leisure clothing firm.
About the Award. London's Evening Standard, one of the most reputable newspapers in the UK, wished to develop a new initiative to support schools' rugby in their region.
They approached www.SchoolsSports.com, the foremost online fixtures and results service provider for schools' rugby in the UK, during the summer of 2007,
to assist them with the building of a regional league covering part of the South East of England. This has been done and the league was launched during October 2007.
Front Up specialise in rugby inspired T-shirts, polos and hoodies. Managing Director Jon Allen said: "As somebody who fell in love with rugby whilst at school I understand how
important team photos and match write ups are in developing your affiliation with the sport. SchoolsRugby.co.uk delivers an excellent online website for coaches, parents and players alike
and we’re delighted to partner the Super XV School Leagues and to be able to offer clothes from our range to each Team of the Month".
Front Up continues to bring the high street to the clubhouse with their latest range. The brand is worn by an increasing number of premiership stars and
endorsed by the likes of Rugby World, Loaded and Sport Magazine.
