Haileybury are the latest team in the Daily Mail Schools Trophy to use an Aviva Premiership ground for a showpiece match.

The Hertfordshire school hosted Harrow at Saracens' Allianz Park in a match described by former Wales No 8 Michael Owen, Haileybury's director of rugby, as one of the best of the season despite a 27-15 defeat.

Haileybury's move follows the use of Premiership grounds established by RGS Newcastle and Durham at Kingston Park and the showdown at Sixways between RGS Worcester and King's.

Owen hopes Haileybury's use of Saracens will become an annual occasion to help promote schoolboy rugby.

He explained: 'It was an excellent match and made for a really good one-off occasion.

'We just a made a few too many silly mistakes against a very good side though overall we showed we could compete against any side in the country.'

King's won the 2016 Worcester derby on Wednesday evening, 15-5, which was the first to be staged since the Warriors installed an artificial pitch.

A crowd of 3,380 watched King's beat their rivals for a third successive season thanks to a first-half try from fly half Alfie Pritchard followed by scores from wing Sam Lowe and centre Dion King.

Harrow's win over Haileybury keeps them among the leaders in the Trophy which is staged over the autumn term by schoolsrugby.co.uk

The second-half of the campaign in this merit table competition promises to showcase the best of schoolboy rugby.

Sedbergh, who have won five from five, will be aiming to make up for last autumn when they fell away after making a similar quick start.

Champions Wellington are gearing up to challenge for a third title in a row. They have found form after losing to Whitgift by defeating Sherborne, Millfield and Eton in successive weeks.

The 22-12 win over Eton was sealed by second-half tries from wings Ben Loader and Dylan Moss after the teams had been level.

Wales under-18 Carwyn Penny, who also plays at the Gloucester academy, has helped Clifton College to be unbeaten in six games.

A 30-24 win over Bristol GS included three tries from the fly half, one starting from a tapped penalty inside his own 22.

Rugby School are leading the midlands circuit, having also put together a run of six wins, while St Peter's York are trying to keep pace with Sedbergh in the north. St Peter's fifth win of the campaign was a 53-5 win over St Ambrose and featured three tries from hooker Adam Brown and two by wing Angus Barrick.
